Congee in the morning

Sunday-Mama and I went out for breakfast at Lugawan hehehe...no time to prepare our foods for this morning,May masarap daw na congee doon, sabi ni mama ko.. congee is eaten all over Asia and is known by different names:we call it "lugaw","juk" or "jook" in Cantonese, "khao tom gung" in Thai and "okayu" in Japanese. In fact, the Japanese eat something called "seven herb porridge"

By the way, the word congee is thought to be derived from the Indian word for the water in which rice has been boiled, "kanji."

Congee can be eaten any time. Sometimes, it's a filling breakfast and other times, it nice nighttime snack. It best with tofu or baboy, itlog oe even lumpiang toge..The reason congee is so good, according to the Chinese, is that when you're sick, it's thought to harmonize digestion while providing much needed caloric energy. Everybody loves Lugaw..especially during rainy season..

My treat..Selecta ube..so yummable.
