One Rash morning
I've had a rash around my mouth that seems to get dry and itchy. It started when I woke up this morning. Not too reddened but itchy.I'm probably experiencing a condition known as dermatitis (an inflammation that usually involves swollen, reddened and itchy skin).
There are different forms of dermatitis, like irritant and allergy contact dermatitis, but, when the itching is very prominent, the affected area is largely swollen and blisters are more common, the diagnosis is more suggestive for an allergic contact dermatitis. Possible factors for triggering this condition are lip balms, lipstick, toothpaste, mouthwash, bubble gum , nickel in musical instrument mouthpiece, rubber in snorkeling mouthpiece, cane reed in a clarinet, food (eg, mango skin). The ring around my mouth is an inflammation, too, and is called perioral dermatitis. The same triggers for lip dermatitis, may triggered the perioral dermatitis, too. Perioral dermatitis is a facial rash that tends to occur around the mouth. Most often it is red and slightly scaly or bumpy. Any itching or burning is mild. It may spread up around the nose, and occasionally the eyes while avoiding the skin adjacent to the lips. It is more rare in men and children. Perioral dermatitis may come and go for months or years
There may be more than one cause of perioral dermatitis. One of the most common factors is prolonged use of topical steroid creams and inhaled prescription steroid sprays used in the nose and the mouth. Overuse of heavy face creams and moisturizers are another common cause. Other causes include skin irritations, fluorinated toothpastes, and rosacea. When I was in college I experience rosacea.
This condition is harmless, but, the ring will be present for months or years if it isn't treated. Usually, an antibiotic therapy is prescribed. I need to avoid make up foundation, since it is considered a strong provoking factor for perioral dermatitis.
Maybe because its too hot siguro din..
